This in-law unit, available furnished [or unfurnished], is cozy yet roomy, 15 x 29 ft studio that's almost a one-bedroom in-law unit. It features great south and west light, and a hardwood floor; plus a spacious, sybaritic private bathroom (full tub & shower) and charming kitchen (gas stove and artfully decorated floor). The space is a fairly new construction in the half-basement of a large 1920's family house, with ample storage and built-ins, cable, Internet, separate entrance, patio, garden view, shared laundry, and easy street parking. A cat or small dog is OK.
Our house is in a convenient North Berkeley location (near the Marin traffic circle), just a short walk to trans-Bay bus service and all the shopping, dining and entertainment that the Gourmet Ghetto and Solano Avenue have to offer. It's a 10-minute bike ride to the UC campus in a neighborhood with wonderful walks and spectacular views, including nearby Indian Rock Park.
As your upstairs housemates, we're a family of three people and two animals: two parental units (a self-employed writer/musician and a crafty health worker); one spirited 15-year-old; one ambitious cat; and one small, sweet-natured spaniel. We also have two housemates up here: an anthropologist/editor/martial arts teacher with an invisible cat; and a writer/entrepreneur/alt.energy guru. We like music and there's often TV/movies in the evening, but we aren't floor stompers.
You're an individual or couple, responsible, honest, stable and happy. You know how to communicate. You're not a cigarette smoker or an addict, and you're moderate and discreet in any vices you might have. Gardeners are encouraged to apply, because our grounds have real (though unrealized) potential. We hope that you're able to give us a one-year commitment.
